Department of Transport and Planning (DPT)
The Department of Transport (DoT), Public Transport Victoria (PTV) and VicRoads came together as one new Department of Transport on 1 July 2019. On 1 January 2023, DoT was renamed the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).
The structure of this department is complex with 5 Ministers responsible for different activities, some of which overlap.

Local walking & cycling organisations and clubs:
- Victoria Walks – An excellent website for walking information. Worth subscribing to their email newsletter.
- Bicycle Network – A national cycling promotional and advocacy group. Organisers of the famous Great Vic Bike Ride and Round the Bay rides.
- Whitehorse Cyclists – An excellent recreational bike club catering for all ages and abilities. If you are at all interested in cycling, contact them and try out a ride.
- Maroondah Bushwalkers – A club of town and country walkers ranging from easy to hard, including bike rides too. Over 350 events and activities a year!
